Camera Obscura was a column of photo essays exploring New York City’s lesser-known neighborhoods and landscapes. Published every two weeks from 2012 to 2020, these photo essays explored post-industrial parks on the New York waterfront, the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, New York’s forgotten rivers and abandoned landmarks, new ideas for addressing rising sea levels, and the ongoing demolition of New York’s historic neighborhoods.
