Wetland ShadowsSite specific video installations Wetland Shadows is a year-long series of site specific installations, layering images of the lost landscapes of Hunter’s Point onto the structures and species that replaced them. In 2015, a decades-old wild forest and meadow ecosystem on the coast of Long Island City was completely demolished to make way for Hunter’s Point South Park and several new residential towers. This installation projects the artists documentation of the site from the past 9 years, alongside images and artifacts from its industrial and post-industrial past. Wetland Shadows is supported by a New York State Council For the Arts Grant, administered by UnionDocs, a Queens-based documentary arts organization. In December 2023, Wetland Shadows was exhibited at the Queens Landing Environmental Center, in partnership with the Hunters Point Park Conservancy. |
