Walking the Harlem RiverSite specific walks Walking the Harlem River is a series of four artist-led walks, tracking the shoreline of the Harlem River in The Bronx. These walks bring participants to hidden waterfront access points in the historic neighborhoods of Marble Hill, Fordham Landing, Highbridge, and Port Morris. Each walk explores the history of industry and pollution that has cut The Bronx off from its shoreline, while also looking at new ideas for bringing green spaces back to the water’s edge, including plans for a new greenway and the daylighting of Tibbetts Brook. Walking the Harlem River was created with the support of the environmental non-profit NYC H2O, and funded by a grant from the NY-NJ Harbor & Estuary Program and Hudson River Foundation. |
