Gowanderlust

A guided walk with site-specific video projections
Created by Nathan Kensinger and Cinebeasts
October 8, 2011

Gowanderlust was a guided nighttime walk around the Gowanus Canal, a Superfund site in Brooklyn, New York. Participants arrived in darkness and were led by Nathan Kensinger through a series of dead-end streets, stopping at warehouses, abandoned buildings and empty lots to view site-specific video projections of Kensinger’s photographs and short films curated by Cinebeasts. The walk ended at Cabinet Space, with a presentation of Kensinger’s photographs titled “Gowanus Canal: Toxic Playground.”
